Greetings! There’s sad news to report.
Bob McKenzie K4MLR became a “Silent Key” on Wednesday, September 18, 2025. He was 96 years old.
Bob has been a member of the Decatur Amateur Radio Club for many years. He served in almost every available office or committee position. For many years he coordinated the club’s Field Day efforts. As he aged he had to give up many things, including ham radio. He served for many years with the Navy MARS program until it was disbanded. His hearing deteriorated to the point that he could no longer operated the radio, so he sold or donated much of his equipment. But he still kept in contact with his fellow hams in the area.
The announced arrangements are:
Visitation at 2 pm on Tuesday, September 23rd
Mass at 3pm
Columbarium after Mass
Annunciation of the Lord Church
3910 Spring Ave SW
Decatur, AL 35603.
All of us who knew him are going to miss him! Those of you who never met him, enjoy the legacy and stability of the DARC that he was so instrumental in maintaining.
Have a good weekend.
