We have made it through 10 months of this crazy year. Only two months left!
And then comes 2023. Can it be different? Please?
November is the month in which general elections are held in our country. On November 8th, be sure to go to your voting place and do your duty as a citizen to help elect our leaders.
November is also when the Decatur Amateur Radio Club elects its officers for the next year. We will hold our monthly meeting for November on Tuesday evening, November 1st, at 7:30pm in the basement auditorium of the Morgan County Courthouse in Decatur. Please arrive early at the lower entrance off of Lee Street. The building is secure and we must keep someone stationed at the door to let visitors in.
The meeting will be streamed on Microsoft Teams. If you are unable to attend, log into the meeting on your computer and participate anyway! There are no provisions in the club By-Laws allowing for remote voting, so if you wish to have a say in next year’s officers, please attend in person. We will accept remote volunteers for club matters, however.

Here’s something for you to spread around to fellow hams or those who are wanting to take the test: the Decatur club is now scheduling license testing every month on the first Saturday of each month. The testing sessions will be held in the Decatur Public Library on 6th Avenue NE (Highway 31) at 1:00. Please bring ID (especially your FRN, which is required on the license application) and your $15 fee. And, most importantly, PLEASE send an email to DecaturHamTest@w4atd.org so we can have the testing materials prepared and available for you. November 5th is our next scheduled testing date.
The other continuing reminder: the roster of current club members is now online at www.HamClubOnline.com. Set up your free account and if you have paid your dues (and the Secretary has updated the database) you should see that you’re associated with the DARC. If there’s an issue, let us know.
And it’s not too early to pay your dues for 2023. If you have not paid for this year, paying in November gets you 14 months for the price of 12! And $20.00 is all it takes. See one of the officers at the meeting, or mail your dues to DARC, PO Box 9, Decatur, AL 35602-0009.
One more thing: the club has changed its banking to Redstone Federal Credit Union. Since we are now “partners”, they have a promotion going for club members until Christmas than can net you $300 by opening a new account and following 2 simple steps. Here’s the brochure that explains it. We can discuss it more at the meeting.
