DARC September 2022 Meeting Reminder – FOOD!

It’s still summertime. September is late summer, but it’s still summer. And it can be uncomfortable at times.

Good food and good times with friends can help alleviate the problems, however. And we’ve got a great suggestion for you!

The Decatur Amateur Radio Club will hold its monthly meeting for September on Tuesday evening, September 6th, at 6:30pm at Libby’s Catfish and Diner atop Priceville Mountain on Highway 67. If you don’t know where it is, just get on the Beltline (Highway 67) and drive away from Decatur towards the east. After passing I-65, continue through Priceville and go up the mountain. When you reach the summit (such as is it), Libby’s will be on the right. Come hungry and ready to talk! Tell us about your incredible finds at the Huntsville Hamfest last month.

And note the change of time, please! It’s at 6:30. Please don’t show up at the Morgan County Courthouse this month, unless you enjoy the company of the cleaning crew. Or sitting in a parking lot by yourself as the sun sets over the railroad tracks.

And be advised that there will NOT be a streaming version of the meeting. We think that streaming video of a bunch of people eating and talking (hopefully not simultaneously, either) would not be very pleasing or informative.

Here’s something NEW for you to spread around to fellow hams or those who are wanting to take the test: the Decatur club is now scheduling license testing every month on the first Saturday of each month, beginning October 1st. The testing sessions will be held in the Decatur Public Library on 6th Avenue NE (Highway 31) at 1:00. Please bring ID (especially your FRN, which is required on the license application) and your $15 fee. And, most importantly, PLEASE send an email to DecaturHamTest@w4atd.org so we can have the testing materials prepared and available for you.

The continuing reminder:  the roster of current club members is now online at www.HamClubOnline.com. Set up your free account and if you have paid your dues (and the Secretary has updated the database) you should see that you’re associated with the DARC. If there’s an issue, let us know.

See you on Tuesday evening for catfish and/or other tasty treats!
