DARC January 2022 Meeting Reminder: New Year, New Faces!

Happy New Year! 2021 is FINALLY behind us. 2022 will hopefully bring some semblance of normalcy and sanity to the world.

Hey, we can hope, can’t we?

The Decatur Amateur Radio Club will begin the year at its usual meeting time and location. That would be Tuesday evening, January 4th, at 7:30pm in the basement auditorium of the Morgan County Courthouse in Decatur. Please come to the lower entrance off of Lee Street, and please be at least 5 minutes early so we can let you in the building, which remains locked.

The new club officers will begin serving their sentences – oops, I mean terms: Thomas Garner KN4MDE, President; Roy Owens K4RJO, Vice-President; and Bob Flautt KB4ACP, Treasurer. The Secretary has still not changed and will begin serving his 21st year in that office.

As a program after the business meeting, we will open the floor for ideas and discussions of ways to make the club more visible to the community and ways to make the club more relevant and enjoyable for the members. Please be thinking about possible activities and events and have ideas and suggestions ready. And please be willing to volunteer your time and brainpower to help out!

It’s also time to think about membership dues for the new year. The club raised the the annual dues to $20.00 beginning in 2021 (this was the first increase in anyone’s memory stretching back more than 30 years!). Bring your $20.00 (and $5.00 each for additional family members) and pay the treasurer for the year. Dues are annual, beginning in January and expiring in December. If you’d rather do it the old-fashioned postal way, mail a check to DARC, PO Box 9, Decatur, AL  35602-0009. And you can pay for multiple years if you wish (sorry, no volume discounts!).

One more reminder:  the roster of current club members is now online at www.HamClubOnline.com. Set up your free account and if you have paid your dues and the Secretary has updated the database you should see that you’re associated with the DARC. If there’s an issue, let me know.

See you at the courthouse on Tuesday evening!
