Season’s greetings are FINALLY in order! It’s December, and that means it’s Christmastime!
Local hams have learned to look forward to the Decatur Amateur Radio Club’s annual Christmas “Eatin’ Meetin'”. At the end of another absolutely crazy year, it’s a great thing to do something different. So, instead of a regular monthly business meeting, we will meet together at 6:00pm on Tuesday, December 7th (I know, “a date that will live in infamy” as President Roosevelt rightly called it in 1941), at the Canton House Chinese restaurant on 14th Street in Decatur. Bring an appetite and some stories to share.
(Large gifts and donations to club officers are always appreciated but not required. Yet.)
While on the subject of club officers, we will be bidding farewell to our outgoing 2021 officers and welcoming the new 2022 models. Thanks are due to Mike Findlay KD4TGC, outgoing President; Steve Vibbert KD2JSW, outgoing Vice-President; and Lester Christophe W5GSU, outgoing Treasurer. Congratulations (sympathies?) are in order for the new officers: Thomas Garner KN4MDE, President; Roy Owens K4RJO, Vice-President; and Bob Flautt KB4ACP, Treasurer. Come thank the old and welcome the new before the year changes. The Secretary has not changed and will begin serving his 21st year in that office in January.
Speaking of year changes, another thing to think about is membership dues for next year. The club raised the the annual dues to $20.00 beginning in 2021 (this was the first increase in anyone’s memory stretching back more than 30 years!). You can beat the January rush by bringing your $20.00 (and $5.00 eash for additional family members) and paying the treasurer in advance for the year. Dues are annual, beginning in January and expiring in December. If you’d rather do it the old-fashioned way, mail a check to DARC, PO Box 9, Decatur, AL 35602-0009. And you can pay for multiple years if you wish.
One more reminder: the roster of current club members is now online at www.HamClubOnline.com. Set up your free account and if you have paid your dues you should see that you’re associated with the DARC. If there’s an issue, let me know.
See you at Canton House on Tuesday the 7th! And Merry Christmas!
