DARC June 2021 Meeting Reminder: Eating Again!

Greetings! It’s the end of May and officially Memorial Day.

Let’s all pause for a moment and be thankful to those who wore the uniform of our country and never returned home alive. It’s because of their sacrifices that we enjoy our freedom – including our freedom to talk on amateur radio – and we should always be grateful, no matter what day or month it is. But especially on this day that is set aside to honor our fallen military heroes, let us all remember and honor the men and women who gave everything they could for us.

Of course, June immediately follows May, and June holds our biggest event of the year: Field Day! It will be held this year on Saturday and Sunday, June 26th and 27th at Delano Park in Decatur. Last year’s Field Day was not a fun one for anyone anywhere, but this one is going to be a lot more “normal”. Further information will come later, but be planning to come out and help us this year!

Now the regular monthly meeting of the Decatur Amateur Radio Club is scheduled for Tuesday, June 1st. Instead of the normal meeting at the normal time, we will be dining out this time.

Our meeting is scheduled for 6:00 in the evening at Libby’s Catfish and Diner on Highway 67 in Priceville. It’s on top of Priceville Mountain on the right, a couple of miles east of I-65. Come hungry, order and enjoy a good meal, and stay for the planning session.

Field Day planning will be the topic of discussion after everyone has finished their food. Come with some ideas and plans to volunteer to help out for the 24 hours that we will be running radios.

Hope to see you on Tuesday!
