DARC October Meeting Reminder – Picnic in the Park

Greetings! We are 3/4 of the way through this exhausting, trying, confusing, confounding, frustrating, and a-whole-bunch-of-other-adjectives year. If we can survive the next 3 months (including the big election) then maybe 2021 will give us a reprieve. At least we can hope!

The September meeting was held in a temporary location in Decatur. The usual October eatin’ meetin’ will be held in a different location yet.

The October 6th, 2020, meeting of the Decatur Amateur Radio Club will take place on Tuesday at 6:00pm (NOTE THE TIME CHANGE!) at a pavilion near the tennis courts at Delano Park in southeast Decatur. The tennis courts are off of Gordon Drive between 8th Avenue and Somerville Road SE. The pavilion we plan to use is Pavilion A, which is the large pavilion to the left of the tennis courts. This will allow us a sheltered place that’s large enough that we can maintain the suggested distance between people during the meeting time. Tune in to the 147.00 repeater (which is somewhat functional), or send an e-mail to ask for better directions or clarifications.

Unfortunately if you want to enjoy the “eatin'” part of the “meetin'” this month, you’ll need to bring your own delectable food and drink items. We can’t do the potluck thing, again due to the health guidelines. But we can watch each other enjoy whatever picnic or fast food things we bring for ourselves.

One other note: it is October after all, and the weather is cooling off. If the meeting lasts much past sundown, the temperatures fall rather quickly. There’s a strong suggestion floating around that you should bring a light jacket of some variety so that you won’t be chilled.

And if you get uncomfortable sitting on picnic table benches for a while, bring a comfy chair.

Once again, please do NOT go to the Morgan County Courthouse on Tuesday evening expecting to talk radio with someone (unless you sit in your vehicle and use one of the repeaters).

We have several matters to discuss, including updates on the repeater situation.

If you have any questions, please e-mail club president Mike Findlay at kd4tgc@gmail or e-mail me at this address or at kb4cay@gmail.

And pass this along to someone you know who may not be aware.
