DARC February 2021 Meeting Reminder

Here we go with the second month of this year. And so far, it seems that 2020 has overflowed. Maybe this groundhog thing can predict some improvements with its shadow.

Speaking of Groundhog Day, this one will also be the date for the February meeting of the Decatur Amateur Radio Club. We will meet at the Morgan County Courthouse on Lee Street in Decatur at 7:30 on Tuesday evening, February 2nd. Please be early since the building must remain locked and someone will have to let you in. Please leave any sharp objects or other items that can be interpreted as weapons at home or in your vehicle in case security procedures are in place at the courthouse.

Our program will be a review of the relocation of the two repeaters on Brindley Mountain. Craig McClure KJ4LAA, who spearheaded the move, will describe in lurid detail the trials and tribulations of the experience, complete with photos and receipts. You’ll definitely want to attend!

Another thing to think about is membership dues for this year. The club has voted to raise the dues to $20.00 per year beginning in January (this is the first increase in anyone’s memory stretching back more than 30 years!). Dues are annual, beginning in January and expiring in December. Bring your cash or check to the meeting. You can pay for multiple years in advance if you wish. If you’d rather pay the old-fashioned way, mail a check to:

PO Box 9
Decatur, AL 35602-0009.

On a sad note, one of our more recent members, Dewaine Howard KJ4MP, passed away from cancer on January 28th. Please keep his wife Lo Rayne KJ4MQ and the family in your thoughts and prayers. The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday the 2nd.

Hope to see you (and your shadow!) on Groundhog Day!
